About EarthMap

EarthMap is a live satellite map of Earth. The imagery is Sat: pictures from geostationary weather satellites that stay over one longitude and watch the same face of the planet.

Four satellites cover the inhabited latitudes. NOAA GOES-East and GOES-West cover the Americas. EUMETSAT Meteosat covers Europe and Africa. GK2A covers Asia and the Pacific. The scenes meet at soft seams. The poles are not covered.

New scenes arrive about every 10 minutes and are usually on the map within about an hour. This is a satellite view, not a weather-model animation and not a substitute for official warnings.

Country pages open the same imagery centered on that place.

For a fire-incident map, use FireMap. For downloadable geospatial data, use DisasterDB.
